Install the Stremio Add-on

Your install link is personal — it is not this page's URL.

The GlobalSubs add-on is tied to your account and your chosen subtitle language. Sign in first, and your dashboard will give you a manifest URL that carries your account with it. Installing a generic, non-personal link will add the add-on successfully, but instead of a translated subtitle you'll see one placeholder track asking you to activate — no actual translation happens until you install your personal link.

Already installed and saw that placeholder?

If Stremio sent you here from a "not activated" subtitle track, that is the generic add-on — it has no account attached, so it can only show that one placeholder, never a real translation. Sign in above, copy your personal manifest URL from your dashboard, and install that one instead to start getting translated subtitles.

What the add-on does

Subtitles only, for movies and series looked up by IMDb id. It has no catalogs and does not add anything to Stremio's discover or board sections — it only supplies a translated subtitle track when you play something Stremio already knows the IMDb id for.

What it costs

Signing in gives you 10 free translation credits — no credit card required. A translation spends one credit; relaying a subtitle already available in your chosen language is free.

How to install — pick your platform

    Android

    Sign in and tap "Copy install link" on your dashboard. Open the Stremio app, go to the Add-ons tab, tap the search icon, and paste the link. Tap the result to install. The "Install in Stremio" button can open Stremio and then hang on a spinner forever on some Android devices — copy-and-paste is the reliable path.

    iPhone & iPad

    Stremio has no iOS app. Sign in, copy your personal manifest URL from the dashboard, open Stremio Web (web.stremio.com) in your browser, go to the Add-ons page, paste the URL into the search box at the top, and press Enter.

    Stremio for Desktop (Windows, Mac, Linux)

    Sign in and click "Install in Stremio" on your dashboard. Stremio opens and prompts you to install the add-on. This only works if you already have the Stremio desktop app installed.

Nothing happened when I clicked "Install"?

The stremio:// install link only works if the Stremio desktop app is already installed on this device — on a phone, or on any machine without the app, clicking it does nothing at all and shows no error. On those devices, sign in, then use the copy-to-clipboard control on your dashboard to grab your personal manifest URL and paste it into Stremio Web or the Android app's add-on search box instead.

Installed fine but Stremio shows no GlobalSubs subtitle the first time you play a title? That first attempt is expected to come back empty — GlobalSubs has to fetch and translate the subtitle first. Sign in and check your Library: the row shows "Processing" and flips to "Ready" on its own, then reopen Stremio's subtitle list.
